Bungie is pulling out yet another stop when it comes to the release of Destiny.
If you buy the game in a digital format on their PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, you will get a free digital copy of the game on the matching next-gen console (PS4 and Xbox One respectively).
When you want to redeem the free copy of the game, you simply have to log on to the new console and download the game from your online account. Once you install the next-gen version of the game, your characters and progress will be transferable to the new console. If you choose to do so, those characters will no longer be accessible on the old console. Even though your characters may be lost in the change over, you will still get to play the game on the old console.
The offer is available for the Base edition, Digital Guardian, and the expansion pass and lasts until January 15th.
It seems Bungie is looking to deal with the slow migration towards the newest generation of consoles. Plenty of companies are releasing their games on both old and current generation consoles to cover as much of the market as possible. Could Bungie’s deal become the norm for dual-generation games?
It would certainly make the decision to buy a last-gen version of the game easier if you knew you had a free copy of the game waiting for your next-gen console when you finally did decide to buy it.
