Insomniac confirms Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be a next-gen exclusive game when it releases.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PlayStation 5 Exclusive

Insomniac confirms Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be a next-gen exclusive game when it releases.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Insomniac confirmed via Twitter. Unlike some other major PlayStation 5 releases, including Horizon: Forbidden West and Spider-Man Miles Morales, Rift Apart won’t be playable on the PlayStation 4.

The news comes in a short reply to a question on Twitter. User Spidey889 asked Insomniac is “R&C Rift Apart (will) be coming to the PS4 as well or just PS5.” Insomniac’s short reply was that “it’s a PS5 exclusive.”

Insomniac’s previous gameplay demonstration for the new Ratchet and Clank game ended with a brief statement that it would be PS5-exclusive, so this isn’t exactly new news, just further confirmation. It’s unsurprising, too, seeing how the game uses the PS5’s unique features for its signature rift tearing.

However, communication surrounding next-gen titles hasn’t always been clear, so now we know for sure, and this announcement should clear up any doubts about Ratchet and Clank at least.

Rift Apart is slated for release sometime during the PlayStation 5’s launch window, roughly four to six months from the time the system releases on November 12.
