According to Gamespot and Bungie’s website, we finally have any idea of when to expect the beta for the highly anticipated game Destiny to arrive. Those of us eagerly awaiting the arrival of this game can finally get to try it hands on this July.
Although no actual date has been announced yet, Bungie has stated they will be making that information available during this years Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) taking place June 10 through 12. Although you may get the info a few days before that, considering Sony will probably want to make a big deal about it during their press conference since Playstation owners will get first crack at playing this title.
Destiny is set 700 years into the future in a post apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age.
In a universe where humans have spread out and colonized planets in the Solar System, an event known as “the Collapse” saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by “the Traveller”, a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars.
The Traveller now hovers above the last remaining human city, and its presence gives the “Guardians of the City”—the last defenders of the human race—the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as “The Light”.
Upon mankind’s first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind’s former colonies and civilizations and are now encroaching upon the City. The player takes on the role of a Guardian of the City, and is tasked with investigating and destroying these threats before humanity is completely wiped out.
To get a spot in the beta all you need to do is preorder the game right from Bungie or from a participating retailer such as Gamestop. Hurry, though, beta codes are in limited supply.
For those that have not had a chance to see this magnificent game in action, I have included the demo that was ran at E3 last year.
Destiny will launch this year on September 9 and will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Paystation 3 and Playstation 4 and retail for $59.99.
