The 2014 Pokemon World Championships are officially underway, and with 100s of challengers from over 25 countries, the competition will undoubtedly be fierce.

The Championships will be held in the United States Capital of Washington D.C., in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Players and audience members alike are welcome to attend, or simply stream the games live from your home computer.

Pokemon World Championships? What Does it Mean?

The competition will consist of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, as well as the Pokemon Video Game, leaving no leaf stone unturned.

Each Pokemon game type has three tiers of players– a Junior Division, Senior Division, and Masters Division.

While many players have simply been invited to attend to the upcoming battle royale, others are perilously working on earning a spot. According to the official website, a Last Chance Qualifier event will be held at the beginning of the broadcast, allowing last-minute competitors to dive head first into a pocket monster-filled war zone.

The competition will last from Friday, August 15th to Sunday, August 17th, with the winners of the 2014 Pokemon World Championships being crowned.
