This fight, like most others in this patch, is very easy. My group one-shot it on the first try. I’m unsure what charmed our Bard, but it wasn’t detrimental. Just be wary that someone may get charmed during the fight.
Getting Started:
If you’re pre-building a group before going in, you only need one tank. There are no mechanics that require a second tank. The fight has two primary stages. After the first stage there are trash mobs to kill before reaching the second stage.
Things Of Note:
- Charm: The charm effect can’t be Esuna’d. I’d recommend sleeping the charmed target.
- Toad: In stage one Gilgamesh only turns one player into a toad, but in stage two multiple players get turned into toads. If you are in toad form just run, the chicken will chase you around the battlefield.
- Mini: This only happened twice in our fight. Once it seemed everyone was put in mini form, the other time a WHM was mini while everyone else was turned into toads.
- Ground AoE’s: Gilgamesh does do a few ground AoE moves. In stage one, Bitter end seemed to be used at random, and not on the tank. These AoE abilities are easy to dodge.
- Jump: Gilgamesh also uses a jump ability, that is seemingly random. This attack can not be avoided.
Overall, there really isn’t much to worry about. Don’t get eaten by the chicken and you’ll be fine. Make sure you watch the video, it gives a better representation of everything. The only thing I didn’t catch on the video is the Bard getting charmed. For more patch 2.2 guides, check out my FFXIV directory.
