Nintendo unveils a new rewards scheme with free games and discounts up for grabs.

Coinciding with the launch of their new smartphone app Miitomo in Japan, Nintendo has also revealed what goodies are up for grabs in My Nintendo, the company’s new customer loyalty rewards program set up to replace the now defunct Club Nintendo.

The new rewards scheme works much the same as the old, with points being awarded for completing various actions, although this time there are two types available: Gold and Platinum points. Buying games will net you Gold points whereas everything else, like talking about games on social media and playing Miitomo, will earn you Platinum points Platinum points can be exchanged for various items. In addition to some free games, including Wii:U titles Donkey Kong Country Returns and New Super Luigi U, there are also a bunch of discounts available. Unlike it’s predecessor Club Nintendo however, it seems the prizes on offer are entirely digital, with no physical items as of yet.

It’s worth noting that the service has only launched in Japan so far, with the program and the Miitomo mobile app set to be available in other regions by the end of the month, so the items available may differ in other territories. However if you can’t wait to see what Miitomo is all about, there is a way to get your hands on it early.
