Lovestruck Expansion Pack Has Nothing on Sims 4’s Steamiest Mod

We've seen this all before, haven't we?

I think we can all agree that one of our main focuses in The Sims 4 is the relationships and romance we can form. The base game has been lacking in meaningful interactions and animations for sims in that particular department. However, The Sims 4 hopes to grant the wish for more romance with the upcoming Lovestruck Expansion. While it may be a step up for those not using mods, it still isn’t really up to par with cc and mods that we already have, like WickedWhims.

What Sims 4’s New Lovestruck Expansion Pack Has to Offer

The Lovestruck Expansion brings many more opportunities for blossoming relationships in The Sims 4. Your sims will be able to connect with new people on the dating app Cupid’s Corner, where they can meet up for dates at one of the dating spots in a brand-new world, Ciudad Enamorada. At these spots, you can check out some new animations, like cuddling in bed or sharing a romantic blanket.

Beyond that, it also includes a Turn-On/Turn-Off system. This will allow each sim to be attracted to different people and behaviors. Sims must maintain Relationship Satisfaction to keep their partner and themselves happy while dating or together. However, it all comes down to each sim’s preference, whether their interactions are a turn-on or will lead to the ick.

The most exciting new feature is the new career in relationship counseling, which will allow sims to give advice on romance to other sims as their job. Other than the career, we’ve seen all these features before, but on a much more extravagant level. Mods, particularly the infamous WickedWhims mods, have already fulfilled our desires with all things romance.

Lovestruck vs. Wicked Whims

WickedWhims is a mod that has been around for a while now. It aims to make The Sims 4 a more realistic and adult-level game by opening up opportunities on the romantic side of things. Sims’ woohoo lives have never been more intense and realistic until this mod came around. It even gives us those turn-ons and turn-offs way before the devs ever did.

WickedWhims allows you to select your sim’s attractions based on their appearances, genders, or interactions. Based on those preferences, your sims develop relationships with others, or maybe even a negative relationship if they are really turned off. Many of us were already using this in our games to allow sims to scope out potential dates or casual hook-ups (which isn’t actually listed as part of the Lovestruck pack features).

The WickedWhims mod goes way further into the ‘romance’ side of things than the Lovestruck pack, and the main reason for that is the adult rating. This mod allows nudity and explicit animations and topics, besides just a suggested woohoo under a blanket. However, that also means the mod isn’t for everyone. Meanwhile, the Lovestruck pack sits comfortably within that Teen rating.

Is Lovestruck Worth Getting Over Wicked Whims?

When comparing Lovestruck to WickedWhims, there are a lot of similarities but also some huge differences. Yes, Lovestruck is our first base game expansion, allowing for genuine romantic interactions and new opportunities for our couples, but WickedWhims has been giving us those things for much longer. I think the biggest deciding factors here on whether Lovestruck is actually worth getting are:

  1. The extra world, furniture, clothes, and career.
  2. How much do you care about explicit content?

If you’re looking for more adult-styled play and woohoos, then WickedWhims is 100% the way to go. If you’d rather keep things clean, Lovestruck might be the better solution. Plus, if you’re a pack fiend like me, the extra decorations and CAS items will be hard to say no to (even if your world is already overflowing with CC items).
