5 Subtle (or Not) Ways to Get Geeky at Your Wedding

From subtle nods to all out theme weddings, there are plenty of ways to sneak some geek into your wedding.

It’s that time of year again.

Hundreds of Saturdays are about to be sacrificed to the annual wedding season, and couples everywhere are in the throes of planning. And if you’re of a mind, there’s plenty of room to express your love for both your significant other and your fandom on the big day.

1) With an epic Groom’s Cake

People expect a grooms cake to be a little unique, so even if you have uptight parents or (and I hope this isn’t the case) a geek chic resistant future spouse, you can still nod to your favorite fandom with a funky grooms cake.

(Plus, groom’s cake means 2X the cake. Score.)

2) Go all out and geekify the BIG cake

That’s right – why the hell not? If you and your spouse both love Batman, there’s not a criminal’s chance in Gotham that putting the Dark Knight on your cake will disappoint either of you.

3) Take pictures with geeky references

To the average, non-spidey-saavy observer, it will just look like you’re REALLY into those campy, ridiculously staged wedding pics that people are into for whatever reason.

But the initiated among your guests and future wedding album viewers will know what’s what.

4) With your decorations

You can take this one as far or as understated as you want. Cover the whole place in creepers, or just put some grass blocks in the photobooth.

5) Go all out with a geeky theme

This is a big commitment. No, not the marriage (well, yes, that’s a big commitment. But not the one we’re talking about) the THEME.

(DUN DUN DUUUUUUHN.)

Choosing a geeky theme is definitely a big way to show off your love for whatever you’re into. Just be warned, if you both aren’t super into Star Wars, The Little Mermaid, or whatever you want the theme to be, this can be a hard sell.

In unrelated news, is it just me or did these guys get married at a cemetery?

Remember, the day isn’t about you, it’s about both of you. If your spouse can’t get behind ‘Fett being at your big day, it might be best to compromise on this one. Don’t start off on the wrong boot.
