League of Legends boasts such a large roster of playable characters that most everyone who plays can personally identify with one or two of the champions in the game. One may favor being a mage who rains down bolts of energy or shooting out fire, such as Ryze or Annie. One may prefer being a long-range marksman or shooter, such as Varus or Caitlyn. Others as well might better find themselves playing large and tank-like characters who engage the enemy or protect their teammates, like Hecarim or Maokai.
What Pulls You In?
What tends to pull me in overall to a champion is the aesthetic and that theme in relation to his or her overall ability kit. My friends all understand — and abhor — that I take to Darius the Hand of Noxus so well. His story is brutal yet epic, his personality and attitude a sense of optimism with a very dark and forward overtone. He sees a great future and rule for his people, and he seeks to complete this vision with great strength. This great strength as well is fashioned in a likewise powerful kit with features largely acclaimed as overpowered by a broad number of the player base for almost a year between his release in Season Two to the beginning of Season Three.
Darius stands to me as a dark knight, as I myself view my person in many a game I play online. He’s fitted with black and red, steel tarnished by combat and the blood of the defeated. He touches a part in me that not many characters do, because if I had the strength and ability, I’d be something or someone similar to him. That is ultimately what this article is about. What champion or what facet of League of Legends pulls you in? What makes the game yours, and what makes you a part of the game?
