Yesterday marked the first actual day of The International 3, and as I sit here at 2am pondering over the 10 hours of massive entertainment I received I can’t help but remember all those big plays and thinking about how Dota 2 is the best game in the world.
I honestly can’t say that is definitely the truth, but when you’re watching a pro-level match you can’t help but get swept away by the hype, the stories behind the players, the skills displayed, and the big plays. Perhaps at those times, Dota 2 really is the best game in the world.
Oh, and betting all my rares and winning them back and some feels amazing.
That dramatic loss by Na’Vi in the first game, TongFu’s total domination of Fnatic (much to my dismay), and the final match of the night with Fnatic showing LGD.int just how they got in to the pool of 16 teams in the first place. It has been a long time since I have been so overwhelmed by what I’ve seen in competitive gaming. I haven’t followed team stats closely or watched 10 consecutive hours of anything ever in my life.
What a match to start TI3!
Whether you’re familiar with Dota 2 or a player of that other MOBA/ARTS game, you may just want to check out the tournament over the coming days. Even with a lack of knowledge, the sheer amount of hype and impressive displays of skill are more than enough to get you swept away in the moment.
Just watch it. Trust me, baby, I got you.
