Video games have some really good music in them. More than a few pieces of audio artistry have the power to move people with their craft at least as much as the games they were written for, or even more for many games. Some of these songs actually become recognizable in popular culture, as numerous YouTube videos of choral and marching band performances highlighting them can attest.
Someone has to actually write that music, though, and Jeremy Soule is one of the more noteworthy game music composers. His work has been featured in Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, The Elder Scrolls, Baldur’s Gates, and more. Now he’s on Kickstarter, looking to fund the creation of a solo album, unattached to any particular game.
He’s already well past his asked-for $10,000 with the entire 30 days left to go, so clearly there is interest in the community. If you’re still on the fence, a quick search of Soule’s name on YouTube will give you a listing of a multitude of the song’s he’s composed to help you make up your mind.
