Gaming as Two-some: A Wife’s Perspective

We game to be together.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

While a lot of couples meet in-game and end up together in real life, such is not the story of my marriage. It is instead a by-product. Our story was a typical one of guy and girl meet at a coffee shop while attending college. Our relationship lasted because I wasn’t that nagging girlfriend. No, I enjoyed watching him play his video games. This was probably because my own machine was older and wouldn’t run any games. But it was my husband who introduced me to MMO’s (or massive multiplayer online games). Since he showed me Anarchy Online, I have formed an addiction to online games.

Date Night? Sure

While most couples go out to dinner and a movie or other activities, this is not the date night that we enjoy. Our date nights consists of us running around doing quests in our current MMO of choice (which right now is RIFT). Sure, we are at different computers and even different rooms, but to us, that doesn’t matter. We are still talking together and spending time together through our toons. It brings us closer.

Do you have a significant other that games too? What types of games do you enjoy together?
