My First E3 Experience: Day 1 Part 2

Guess who made it into some random German newspaper? This guy.

It is currently 5:10AM as I start this entry. I have to be up in 3 hours, so, I will keep this short and supplement it with images. Even more images will be added later, so, be sure to check that out.

Nintendo had a very large and impressive booth with some really cool decorations. They had a setup for Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, and Super Mario 3D Land. Not only that, but they had some awesome, yet somehow slightly creepy Mario and Luigi mascots.

Luigi stares into your soul.

The Super Mario 3D Land setup was done in a way so that visitors could take pictures of themselves sticking their heads out of a green pipe. I couldn’t resist.

I headed up to take a picture and the guy who was in one before me asked if he could get one with me. He had a German accent, so, I figured “Hey, why not?” After we posed pretty hilariously, I was stopped by someone who was with the people who were taking his photo. They had me sign a waiver to give them permission to use those photos in a German newspaper.

Look out Germany, there’s a new beard in town.

At one point, when I was walking between halls, I spotted Ashley Birch from Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’, or at least someone who looked and sounded incredibly similar. Mega64 and Hey Ash in the same day: why is life so good?

I also spotted Smooth McGroove twice. I wanted to approach him and thank him for the interview, but each time I saw him, he was far away and I was occupied talking to a booth person.

Besides just getting to see a bunch of cool stuff and spot internet celebrities, I also got a chance to play the new Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate and Dynasty Warriors 8. Both of those games are awesome. DW8 has a completely different look; DOA5 Ultimate seems to play really well.

I also played a bit of Street Fighter II. Both the World Warrior and Hyper Fighting. When I played SFII and DoA, I played against other players and won every time. Watch out, Justin Wong; just sayin’.

There was a bit more to my day, but the sun is out now and I have to be up and at ’em for day 2 soon. Bottomline: E3 is everything I could have hoped for. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to attend. I also might have my tablet on me tomorrow and if I do, I will attempt to tweet as the day goes on, so follow me @labmember003.
