We’ve all seen the insane paper crafts that people can create, from Zelda to Mario. I, myself, have delved far enough into paper crafts to make a creeper from Minecraft. His name is Greg.
However, those who are far more talented (and patient) than I tend to make things that absolutely blow my mind. It never ceases to amaze me at how crafty some of the gaming community is, and how willing they are to create templates so that others can be equally as crafty!
Okami – Amaterasu and Chibiterasu
Richi89 over on dA has created this insane paper sculpture of Amaterau and Chibiterasu from Okami. Just look at Chibiterasu’s face! So cute.
Legend of Zelda – Midna
We have all seen the insane Zelda papercrafts, and there’s even an exceptional Link picture floating around. How about some Midna? All I can say is… holy shit. Even if it is from a template, this doesn’t even look like paper! Another dA community member, minidelirium, took 30.5 hours to make this papercraft for her sister. She has an entire galleryof papercrafts that completely blow my mind.
Persona 3 – Aegis
This papercraft from Persona 3 doesn’t even come from a template. Aegis is shown here as a fully poseable papercraft that… doesn’t even register in my brain. Look at the hair! She even has removable accessories! If this doesn’t take the cake, then really, I don’t know what does. Plus Kahera’s talent is undeniable with this piece.
Diorama – Mario and Peach
Okay, so Mario and Peach may be a little overdone, but look at this diorama! Made completely of paper for Nintendos Paper Craft‘s contest. Gigidigi‘s piece is super cool, even though it didn’t win. But if this didn’t take home first prize… what did?
Legend of Zelda – Valoo
The first prize winner for Nintendo Paper Craft’s content was Squeezycheesecake, who created their own template and then put it to good use. The detail on this is astounding, and I really love the colors.
Pokemon – Lickitung
Now I know what you came here thinking–where the hell do I find those Pokemon crafts in the header image. Well, skele-kitty on dA actually had to destroy her collection because it had grown so massive. Flipping through her gallery makes me squeal with all the kawaii. Just look at this Lickitung, really. The amount of time this must have taken is ridiculous, not to mention the total time for all of the Pokemon she’s created. If you’re looking for your Pokemon papercraft fix, just head over to her page–she’s also marked a ton of her favorite crafts by other artists.
Final Fantasy XII – Moogles
Fezco on dA has taken the time to craft every Moogle from Final Fantasy XII, including one that he came up with all by himself! His templates are available on his blog, where you can also make mountains of moogles for your friends to mull over. You can also see the rest of his papercrafts there. Some of them are pretty ridiculous. I mean, did you see that Cloud and Tifa craft?
Bioshock 2 – Big Sister
I can’t even wrap my brain around some of these. Destro2k on dA (deviantart seems to be a pretty big host for papercrafters!) has an extensive portfolio of some pretty pro looking crafts, including this Big Sister. This has 52 pages of paper built into it. That’s like the equivalent of a very lengthy children’s book, but it also has 520 pieces. Tiny pieces. That you have to glue together. He also posted the entire building process into one album, so you can see how insanely complicated it is.
Mass Effect 2 – Legion
DaiShiHUN‘s Legion from ME2, which is insanely detailed by the way, comes complete with it’s own M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle. It also lights up. Including some of his own LEDs, DaiShiHUN proves that papercraft doesn’t get any more intense than this. This is some serious dedication that the artist rates as “VERY HARD.”
Final Fantasy X – Rikku
Last, but definitely not least, let me just say that if you take the time to go browse ACE Craft‘s website, you will not be disappointed. This Rikku craft is amazing, and even better, comes with a template that you can build your own with. His gallery is full of insanely detailed and gorgeous crafts.
I’ve given you all the tools and the inspiration to cut yourself to ribbons with mountains of paper, so get to it! Post your papercrafts or some of your favorites! I’m always looking for things to drool over.
