The Closest I’ll Get to Being Daenerys Targaryen as Dragon’s Prophet Correspondent

Gotta catch 'em all, Dragon's Prophet! ...Doesn't quite have the ring like Pokemon does, but it's close.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

It might be a bit of a stretch, but playing and getting to know Dragon’s Prophet will probably be the closest I’ll ever get to being the mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, from Game of Thrones. From my first experience with the closed beta, it felt like an estranged lovechild of TERA, Animal Crossing, and Dragonvale. You have the visual style of TERA and other MMO’s like it, the housing system and potential for community—and/or anarchy it seems like—from Animal Crossing, and you can collect and train tons of dragons similar to Dragonvale, but without the automated monetization. Sounds pretty good to me.Qualifications and Inspirations

  • Patience is my jam, and with a game in beta and needing some serious work, I can appreciate the work going into it while noting what could still use improvement.
  • My lack of extreme MMO experience makes me a nut for MMO’s—hear me out. The first MMO I desperately wanted to be a part of was Ragnarok Online, but no matter which version I tried, my ancient computer just couldn’t handle it. I received a machine capable of greater gaming capacity not too terribly long ago, and I’m now living the MMO dream. My style is more explorative, so I’ll be one of those wanderers seeking all the side quests and venturing to the invisible borders, scouring for anything overlooked that could potentially be goldmines or bug holes.
  • I approach games from multiple angles—from the artistic and creative side to the technical side. I’ll be honest, I got a little overexcited when I read about collecting hundreds of dragons and I saw that first gigantic insect-like dragon from the first scene. I really enjoyed that dragon’s design; it was almost a challenge to the dragon tradition, and I’m pretty sure people took offense to it. I’m truly interested in finding out what other types of dragons lie in wait as well as potentially grilling the artists on their inspirations and challenges.
  • I’m a writer, editor, vocalist, and artist, so I draw from all sorts of disciplines. Research plays a role in each, so I’m all for getting as much information from SOE Live as possible and relaying my findings openly and accessibly.

Vote Miranda for Dragon’s Prophet Correspondent at SOE Live and I’ll get GameSkinny into the belly of the dragon!
