Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm is now in technical alpha and it looks pretty awesome. The first wave of invites has gone out and for now only a lucky few are playing – fortunately for us, Blizzard is continuing their established precedent of no NDA! This means there are plenty of streams up on Twitch and videos being uploaded to YouTube with gameplay and commentary. Some of your favorite internet personalities are already actively streaming the game. Either search around on Twitch or check out the streams from people like: TotalBiscuit, WoWCrendor, TradeChat, and HuskyStarcraft.
I Want To Get Into the Alpha!
Join the club! At the moment, the only way to get into the alpha of Heroes of the Storm is to opt-in for beta through Battle.net or by signing up over on the official Heroes of the Storm website. “But wait,” you say, “I want in for the alpha, not the beta!” Right now there is no difference in the process: signing up for the beta will let Blizzard know that you are interested in Heroes of the Storm and they’ll decide who they want to let into the alpha based on that pool. Ultimately, Blizzard will decide based on their own methods, but they can’t know you’re interested unless you sign up!
Steps to opt-in to the Heroes of the Storm alpha on Battle.net:
- Log into your Battle.net account or create an account if you don’t already have one.
- Go to the Account page (button is located on the top right of the page).
- Navigate to the Beta Profile Settings link (under the large green “Add a Game Key” button on the right).
- Once in your Beta Profile Settings, mark the check-box next to the Heroes of the Storm and click “Update Preferences” to register your interest in the alpha and beta.
Note: If you have never been to the Beta Profile Settings page, you will also have to update your system specifications. To do so, download and run Blizzard’s beta opt-in application (also available on the Beta Profile Settings page). It is safe, fast, and painless.
Avoid Scams
Please remember: right now, the ONLY way to get into the alpha is to opt-in via official Blizzard avenues. Do NOT fall for phishing scams. The easiest way to avoid scams is to go directly to Battle.net and always make sure to double-check the URL whenever you enter personal information. If you don’t already have a Blizzard authenticator or the official authenticator mobile app, we suggest you get that for additional Battle.net account security.
Additionally, here is information from Molster_Diablofans on the r/HeroesOfTheStorm.
Do not click random links for keys or invites – This first round of alpha will be account flagging. This means there will not be a need to click any links in any emails.
There are no beta keys right now – Do not be fooled by scam sites, as long as this is in this post, there are no keys for you to claim
Do not ask for keys – Please do not make a post asking for an invite, these will be removed. When its time for key giveaways, we will have a dedicated thread.
How do I sign up for the beta? – If you want to be ready go to your Beta Profile Page and make sure you have a checkbox in heroes
