There is a brand new map to enjoy, new driveable vehicles, an entirely new story, and even a new method of progression as you stomp zombies into the ground and survive the deadly nights.

The Basics –

There are a couple of things to remember when playing Dying Light: The Following, and those reign true for almost every zombie survival game in the world.

  1. Aim for the head – The infected will drop far quicker if you can land a perfect headshot. This will save ammo, time, and your own life.
  2. Conserve Ammo – Ammunition is one of the most precious items in the entire game, and is quite hard to come by. Save your ammunition for the bigger, badder enemies in the game.
  3. Loot, loot, loot – Loot absolutely everything you possibly can. Go through all of the boxes, all of the dead bodies, and keep your scrap for crafting.
  4. Avoid the night – Until you have the opportunity to throw some more points into your Agility – which should be okay since The Following requires a strong character – remain indoors during the night.
  5. Side quests – Make use of the numerous side quests throughout the new game map, as you will find yourself wanting for experience points as often as possible.
Utilize Those Buggies!

One of the biggest new additions to the core gameplay of Dying Light is the addition of the Sulas Buggy; a type of off-road vehicle the player can use to access new lands and speed across the dangerous roads.

The Silas Buggy requires fuel in order to effectively run so you need to keep some on hand.

Throughout the new land, there are a couple of gas stations, which offer you your best chances of fueling up. That being said, the absolute best way to receive fuel for your own vehicle is to siphon it from abandoned cars on the side of the road. One siphon equals one unit of gasoline for your buggy. You must manually fill your vehicle, though.

Find All Blueprints

Blueprints are going to be your best friend in the game. You will want to upgrade your weapons as often as possible to keep them devastating enough to topple the strongest of enemies.

A few notable blueprints you should hunt down are:

  • Super Molotov – The Super Molotov features much higher damage than the regular thrown weapon. It can be found near the North-West of the game map, towards a Large Tank filled with blood-red colored water. It will be inside the nearby chest at the bottom of the tank.
  • ORIGAMI 101 – ORIGAMI 101 is a nice addition to your arsenal. This is basically a paper plane bomb, which is capable of taking out multiple enemies in one go. To acquire it, simply climb to the top of the large Water Tank, which will be noticeable on the map. It will be in a chest at the very top.
  • Discharger – The Discharger is not an entire weapon on its own, but will upgrade your current bladed weapon will electricity. You can find it by the Gas Station near the Safe Zone in the East of the game map. It is in one of the drawers in the kitchen.
Complete Those Side Quests!

Side quests are the life-blood of all open-world games, especially those with an experience point-based progression system. In Dying Light: The Following, things are no different.

There are a ton of new side quests to complete in the expansion, all of which will offer extra experience points and far better loot than what you may find in the game world. Each one is a tad bit challenging, though, so go in prepared and leveled up.

It will take you around one hour to reach the very first set of side quests in the game.

Dying Light: The Following is an impressive expansion, albeit a difficult one to complete. Follow us and be sure to survive the night!
