“Installed graphics drivers are out of date!”

If you get the (above) drivers error, don’t freak out! Most likely:

Your drivers are up to date, the error message is just a bug. But, to be sure, here’s how to update your drivers in Steam.

For most people, myself included, this orange glowing error message is a total red herring – it’s a bug. If you are using Steam, the easiest way to check is to go to the top bar and click Steam > Check for Video Driver Updates…

  • This will tell you if your drivers are up to date. If they are not, it will immediately take you to an Update Drivers window.
  • This works for both AMD and Intel drivers.

Once your drivers are up to date, you may still get the error message.

It’s a bug. Don’t worry about it! Go have fun conquering planets!
