The Lightning event launched today, opening the first chapter for players. All the speculation and rumors can finally be laid to rest. I’ll be giving full details on how the event is set up.
With chapter one, For The Winsome, available today, we’ve gotten a look at just how this event is structured. The event is a quest line that uses FATEs to progress the quests. For chapter one, you’re tasked to complete one of two FATEs. The two optional FATEs are Tender Buttons, or Sister Crustacean. Both of these FATEs are low-level, which means most players will have to level sync.
You only get credit for the FATE if Lightning appears. If Lightning does not appear, you will not receive the Otherworldly Parcel. Otherworldly Parcels are used to complete the chapter one quest, or exchanged for weapons.
The schedule for all chapters:
- Chapter 1: For the Winsome: Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. (EST)
- Chapter 2: Seeking the Scoop: Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. (EST)
- Chapter 3: The Knight’s Passage: Monday, November 18, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. (EST)
- Chapter 4: Wonder and Lightning: Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. (EST)
If you miss the event, you can always catch it in February. The event will return with the launch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII in North Amaerica.
The entire event ends on December 9th. If you do not complete the event, worry not, as it will return for the North American launch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII in February. Check out my guide on For The Winsome, and many other tips in my list of FFXIV guides.
