Now that Monster Hunter: World is out in the wild, it’s inevitable that players will encounter a few random bugs and problems in need of patching. Capcom has responded rapidly to reports of such issues, with the most recent update 1.03 patch designed to fix quite a few. However, it causes one as well, with many players finding they can no longer play squad sessions and receiving a curious error code. So what is error code: 201-MW1? Even those who haven’t downloaded the patch are getting the code. Fortunately, the fix is simple.
Monster Hunter: World Error Code 204-MW1
Error code 204-MW1 is specifically connected to squad sessions — MH:W‘s version of guilds — and has no bearing on internet sessions. The problem is when there are some members of the squad with the 1.03 patch and some without; the game won’t allow play sessions unless everyone is on the same version.
How to Fix Error Code 204-MW1
The solution is simple. If you feel particularly ornery, you can remove the offending friends from your squad. If not, just make sure everyone downloads the new update, and you’ll be good to go.
