10 WWE Story Modes That Will Hopefully Be Created

As 2K has complete ownership of the WWE games, they should include these story modes in the series.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Over the years, the WWE 2K series has treated us to some of the best story modes in gaming, from reliving the Attitude Era in WWE 2K13 to the years of WrestleMania in 2K15 to going through the outstanding career of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Stone Cold Steve Austin, in 2K16. As good as those story modes were, hopefully 2K will create the following story modes in the future.

Recommended Videos

1. The Rock

Before he was the leading man in Hollywood, he was the "Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment." He rose from a blue-chipper to leading one of the most powerful factions, The Nation, to capturing the WWE Championship and becoming a corporate champion to finally becoming The People's Champion. His matches with the likes of Stone Cold, Triple H, Mankind, Kurt Angle, and John Cena are instant classics. As a future Hall of Famer, it would be appropriate to celebrate his career by reliving some of the best matches and the greatest moments of his career. (Let's not forget the trash talking The Rock was known for.)

2. Rivalries

In professional wrestling, rivals are two individuals who hate each other, and it's always just a matter of time before two individuals come together and see who will come out victorious. In the WWE, WCW, and ECW, there are a number of rivalries that wrestling fans and gamers would love to play. Whether it's Hulk Hogan vs Sting, Stone Cold vs The Rock, Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels, or Tommy Dreamer vs Raven, rivalries are fun to watch -- and even more fun to play.

3. The World's Greatest Tag Teams

Throughout wrestling, there is nothing like combining two individuals to make a statement. Tag-team wrestling is not just two-on-two fighting -- it's all about coming together and running through the wrestling business as the top team in order to earn respect and glory. There are a number of successful tag teams in the wrestling business that could be featured, including Harlem Heat, The Outsiders, The Hardys, The Dudleys, Mega-Powers, Edge and Christian, and more. 2K should make a story mode featuring some of the best tag team matches throughout the WWE, WCW, and ECW from the 80's to the present day.

4. Sting

The man who not only represented WCW but basically IS the WCW. A true legend and icon, Sting had an amazing career in World Championship Wrestling. The Stinger's battles with Ric Flair, Vader, Cactus Jack, Hulk Hogan, and the nWo were remarkable. 2K can create a story mode in which the player can go back to when he won his WCW Championship from Ric Flair, then to his popular rise in the WCW, to changing himself into one of his best gimmicks, The Crow Sting, and finally to winning his last WCW championship.

5. WCW Monday Night Nitro

In 1995, WCW debuted their flagship show, "Monday Night Nitro," to oppose the WWE's "Monday Night Raw," thus beginning the Monday Night Wars to see who would rise to the top in television supremacy. No doubt about it, the WCW not only gave the WWE a run for their money, they really featured some of the best wrestling in history, including Ric Flair taking on Sting in the debut episode, Lex Luger capturing the WCW Championship from Hollywood Hogan, the unstoppable rise of Goldberg, and the hostile takeover from the nWo. If 2K can turn back the clocks to revisit the Attitude Era from the WWE, why not do it for the WCW?

6. nWo (New World Order)

I don't know if this can be a story mode, but it could work as a DLC Pack. In 1996, the nWo truly changed the business of professional wrestling. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hollywood Hogan started a revolution in the WCW and took it to new heights. 2K can once again turn back the clocks to when Hall and Nash came into the WCW. The player can start with the main event match at WCW Bash at the Beach in 1996. As the player moves through the years, not only could they play as the members of the nWo, but they could also play as the wrestlers trying to stop the nWo, such as Goldberg and Sting. This could be a fun addition to the WWE 2K games in the future.

7. The Evolution of The Undertaker

For over two decades, WWE fans were privileged to see one of the best athletes in the squared circle. The Undertaker was more than a legend; he was a respected veteran whose career captured everyone's attention, starting from his Survivor Series debut to winning his first WWE Championship from Hulk Hogan to claiming the longest winning streak in WrestleMania history. 2K can develop a story in which players relive some of the best moments and matches throughout the Deadman's career, which means it would probably be the longest story mode yet.

8. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho's career in ECW, WCW, and WWE is a story worth telling to the whole wrestling world. It would be a great idea to include Chris Jericho as the main focus of a story mode, from Singles Competition in ECW to being one of the best cruiserweights in WCW to being the most popular wrestler in the WWE. The man reinvents himself so many times, and with each new version, he becomes even more successful. His matches with John Cena, The Rock, Triple H, A.J. Styles, and others have been amazing. Let's not forget that he was the first undisputed champion, which no doubt makes his a story worth including in the series.

9. Randy Orton

Regardless of how you feel about Randy Orton, he had an outstanding career, and The Viper's story would be great to include in the series. Being the youngest champion in WWE history, his amazing match with Mick Foley alone would make for a great story mode. If 2K ever wants to include Randy Orton as the centerpiece of their WWE 2K cover, they should surely include some of his best matches. Hopefully a career mode featuring The Viper will be created sooner rather than later.

10. ECW: The Revolution

Throughout the world of professional wrestling, no matter where you go to see an event, the chants of "E-C-W" will forever live on. ECW was the cause of the WWE starting the Attitude Era, and it's where talent such as Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Mick Foley, and Steve Austin got their starts or rebuilt themselves for future employment with the WCW or WWE. In the ECW, the fans really were a part for the show. The matches and moments throughout the years of Extreme Championship Wrestling will forever be in the memory of wrestling, and 2K should develop a story mode celebrating the years of ECW as a tribute.
