Minecraft remains one of the largest, most interesting indie games to have ever been developed. Can it even be called indie any longer?
In any case, the voxel-based building game is quite customizable, especially when it comes to the player character's appearance, which can be changed to suit your tastes as often as you would like.
The talented community has ensured you can dress your character as the Avengers, horror movie icons, Japanese Anime, and even various animals.
With so many to select, how can you simply choose one? That is why we're here to help offer some insight into the most interesting skins available.
Deadpool
Deadpool is easily one of the most interesting anti-heroes to have ever been created. The red-masked killer is known for his smart mouth and quick guns, but neither of those translate well into the world of Minecraft.
You can, however, still make your character appear like the real Deadpool, albeit in a very blocky form.
Finn
Finn remains one of the biggest heroes in the television world. Seen on Adventure Time, this little guy is one of the cooler skins you can select for Minecraft.
If you intend to role-play some huge adventures with a pal or two, then you need to get a hat and blue t-shirt before delving into the depths of a mine. Having someone dressed as Jake wouldn't hurt either.
Cookie Monster
Although he is quite creepy looking while in Minecraft, Cookie Monster is still an interesting skin to use. Albeit quite a simple skin, this one is still cool.
Dress up as one of the best cookie eaters in the entire universe, then go adventuring. Or, even better, wait outside someone's home, just near the window, and scare the crap out of them when they turn around.
Luke Skywalker
With the upcoming release of the new Star Wars film, dressing as Luke Skywalker in your favorite game is almost a given. When traveling across a desert biome, dressing as the famous Jedi could help ease the lack of scenery.
Complete with his toga-like outfit, belt, and lightsaber attached - although it does not work, sadly - Luke looks just like he does in the films.
Ash Ketchum
Someone went through a lot of trouble to design this Ash Ketchum Minecraft skin. The amount of color and detail that went into this blocky character really shines through.
When you're playing on a Pixelmon server, wearing this Pokemon skin is probably your best bet to win. The iconic baseball hat and blue coat should be recognized by everyone.
Gordon Freeman
In anticipation of the never-to-be-announced Half Life 3, players can at least dress up as the iconic hero of the franchise with this new Gordon Freeman Minecraft skin.
With the bright orange hazmat suit, the nerdy glasses, and the haircut of a scientist, players will explore mines and caves as if they were toxic waste dumps in a science lab.
Link
Everyone knows who Link is by now, though they do sometimes confuse the little elf with Princess Zelda, due to the name of the game franchise. For those who do know, however, the green suit and shield on his back should be a dead giveaway.
Someone, once again, went into a lot of intricate detail to create the Legend of Zelda protagonist. Everything looks as close to the original as possible.
Tetris
In what is, hands down, the most interesting Minecraft skin to have been developed by the community, this Tetris man brings the vintage game to life.
It is incredibly colorful, with unique shapes and colors covering the entire body. The head's alone appear different and quite interesting on their own.
If you really want to turn heads, then this is the skin you need to be using.
In the end, there are thousands upon thousands of Minecraft skins for players to choose from. What is interesting to one person may not be the coolest to someone else. So, dive into the massive community the game has brought forth from the depths of the gaming world and discover which skin you enjoy the most.
