Space Marine 2 Best Weapons For Multiplayer

Arm yourself properly for the fight ahead brother!

PvP is an entirely different beast than PvE in Space Marine 2. The tactics that work in co-op rarely work in multiplayer, and the same goes for your weapon armaments as well. Don’t be a neophyte, here are the best weapons for multiplayer in Space Marine 2.

The Best Weapons For Multiplayer in Space Marine 2: Ranked

1. Melta Rifle

The Melta Rifle was a bit of a meme back in Space Marine 1 with how overpowered it was in PvP, and unsurprisingly, it’s still as overpowered in the sequel. The thing that makes it so powerful is its crazy amount of damage. The standard version of the Melta Rifle deals as much damage as certain relic-tier weapons.

However, there’s a catch. Because it deals so much damage, its range is painfully short. This means you’ll be stuck to close-quarter engagements when using it. The key to using it efficiently is dodge rolling. Keep dodge rolling till you reach your enemies and plant a short right into their carapace.

2. Multi-Melta

The Multi-Melta is even stronger than the regular Melta, however, it’s also significantly slower than the regular version and only available to the Heavy class. It does have a few distinct advantages though. For one, its attack cone is significantly larger.

It’s also much safer to maneuver with it, on account of the Heavy’s Iron Halo ability. There’s a caveat to using this weapon though. Because the Heavy class doesn’t get a melee weapon, if a melee starts you’re practically done for. Hence why this version ranks lower than the regular version.

3. Combat Knife

The Combat Knife is designed for taking out beefy targets. In PvE, its performance is mediocre at best. But in PvP, it’s the best melee weapon available. If your favorite class can equip it, then make sure to take it with you. Just know that certain classes gain more benefits from it than others.

Vaguards gain the most benefit from using this weapon as it pairs really nicely with their class ability. Tactical Marines also get it, though they need to close the distance the old-fashioned way to use it.

4. Power Sword

The Power Sword is a great all-around weapon for whatever circumstance you use it in. However, in multiplayer, you’re going to want to use it in speed mode only. In PvP, it doesn’t matter how much damage a melee weapon does, but how fast you can attack with it.

That’s the reason why the Combat Knife is superior for PvP, as its attack speed is slightly faster than the Power Sword’s. One advantage that the Power Sword has over the Combat Knife is utility. It has two attack modes and dozens of combos. If you learn how to use it effectively, its performance can even match the Combat Knife’s.

5. Bolt Carbine

Although iconic, most of the bolters in Space Marine 2 are not that effective in PvP, except for the Bolt Carbine that is. The one advantage this gun has over its counterparts is its rate of fire. The Bolt Carbine has the fastest rate of fire in the game, thus contributing to its high lethality.

It is however an ammo-eating monster. Don’t bother firing it at a distance, and don’t just spray and pray once you get close to the enemy. Fire it in controlled bursts and make sure to always aim for the head.

6. Bolt Sniper Rifle

Okay, I might have lied a bit in the previous entry. There is another good bolt rifle—the Bolt Sniper Rifle. The reason it ranks lower than the Bolt Carbine is because it’s even more specific to use than the carbine. Whereas with the carbine you have some wiggle room, with the sniper rifle, you only have one specialty, and one specialty only: long-range combat.

The neat thing about the Bolt Sniper Rifle is that it grants additional headshot damage if you manage to land a shot right in the enemy’s dome. That’s fairly easy to do while aiming down sight, but unlikely when hip-fired, as the dispersion is insane when hip-fired.

7. Heavy Bolt Pistol

Pistols are honestly not that great in Space Marine 2. They’re inaccurate, they don’t deal a lot of damage, and their rate of fire is abysmal. They are good fallback weapons in a pinch though. Of the three pistols currently present in the game, the Heavy Bolt Pistol is the best choice of the bunch.

Compared to the regular Bolt Pistol, the Heavy variant has better range, packs a bigger punch, and tends to have better shot dispersal. The Plasma Pistol is good for damage and shooting at range, but its venting mechanic makes it impractical for long-term use, hence why the Heavy Bolt Pistol is the best choice of sidearm.
