Top 5 Games I’m Excited For in 2016 and 2017

In this Top 5 list, I go over the 5 games from E3 2016 that I'm most excited for. This is my own opinion, so don't be disheartened if you don't agree.

Hey guys, there were some pretty cool looking games shown off at E3 this year, and I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 of those games that I’m most looking forward to. Do you have any favorite games from E3? You can let me know in the comments.

5. – Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U).

The newest edition to the Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild, takes place in a version of Link’s world we haven’t seen before. The trailer shows that you can do, well, basically anything. Link is shown climbing mountains, chopping down trees, hunting, setting fire to grass and even taming his own horse.

What got me most excited was the ice-block manipulation device Link used (not sure what it’s called), as well as the magnetic looking thing that he used to pick up an object and smash his enemies with. It seems as if you will be able to obtain different armor sets, as well. I’m genuinely excited for this, as it looks like it’ll be an experience that none of us have had before with a Legend of Zelda game. LoZ: Breath of the Wild is to be released in 2017.

4. – Days Gone (PlayStation 4).

In this trailer, we see Sam Witwer’s character, Deacon, explaining how the zombie apocalypse happened. Now I might be a bit biased, since I love Sam Witwer, but SIE Bend Studio did a fantastic job with this announcement trailer, and seeing his acting in this made me love it even more.

Many people were speculating that this would be a sequel to a very similar looking game, The Last of Us, but that theory was quickly smashed when they released the gameplay demo, showing that the zombies in Days Gone are vastly different from the Clickers we saw in The Last of Us. Days Gone is expected to release sometime in 2017.

3. – Spider-Man (PlayStation 4).

Another PlayStation exclusive, it seems as if PlayStation’s definitely won the exclusives for E3. Now, I’m most definitely biased on this choice, as Spider-Man is my absolute favorite superhero. We only get to see a small portion of the gameplay in this trailer (the web swinging, and when Spider-Man rips something out of the wall and smashes it into an enemy) but from the looks of it — it seems very reminiscent of Spider-Man 1 and 2 to me, and that excites me greatly — Insomniac Games has said that they’re likely not going to announce a release date any time soon, sadly.

2. – God of War (PlayStation 4).

In this gameplay trailer we see a young Charlie (not confirmed if this is his name, as they said it wasn’t his final name) and his father, Kratos, the seemingly loving, yet harsh protagonist. This game takes a nicer over-the-shoulder third person, instead of the so-far-you-can’t-see-Kratos third person, which looks very nice.

Almost immediately, we see that you can gain knowledge points for tracking, which hints at a possible hunting system further on in the game. When Kratos gets into the fight with the two.. things, you can see his axe take a nice elemental effect, which we then see is a frost effect as he tosses it, and impales one of the enemies like a badass.

Then there’s the epic, presumably first, boss fight with a troll that equips a very large pillar. It’s also nice to point out that Charlie can use lightning with his bow. Afterwards, we see a possible archery system that might come into play later on in the game.

Overall, this game has such a good feeling about it that I can’t help but put this as the number 2 on the list. Also, Charlie saying he couldn’t kill the deer made me very emotional. Wow. There’s no official release date for this, so stay tuned.

1. – Dead Rising 4 (PC and Xbox One).

Oh my god this looks amazing. I’m so happy Frank is back. Immediately it throws us into the action, showing the many different things you can kill zombies with, including a grenade launcher, an electrical go-kart, a flame-throwing Rhino head (WHAT?!) and numerous other great things.

I felt like I was back many years ago when I played the first Dead Rising. It seems like this world will be more open than the first two, and we won’t be constrained to a single mall, though you can go to one, I’m assuming, it wouldn’t be the same if you couldn’t. This releases sometime in the holidays of 2016.

 Honorable Mentions

Death Stranding(PS4)

Watch Dogs 2.(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Battlefield 1(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Horizon Zero Dawn(PS4)

There were plenty of amazing titles that were announced at E3, this list was very hard to write. These were the games that has gotten me excited for the rest of 2016 and looking forward to 2017.
