Project Athia Gets New Trailer, Name Change to Forspoken

Project Athia is now Forspoken, a fantasy game where one woman must embrace the magic within to survive.

Square Enix and Luminous Productions showed the first new footage of Project Athia in nearly a year, only it’s now called Forspoken. It follows the story of Frey, played by Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels 2019), a woman transported to a world of magic, “motherf***king dragons,” and massive environments.

Lucky for Frey, she acquires magic abilities once she arrives in Athia, and she’ll need them to stay alive because dragons aren’t the only supernatural creatures waiting for a human snack.

Athia is vast, with countless biomes for Frey to explore, though admittedly, we still have little idea what she’s doing there apart from dodging flaming wolf monsters. Whatever she uncovers, Frey’s journey promises to be an intense one. Balinska said:

Frey as a character is real, she’s raw, she’s a girl who lost her way — both figuratively and literally — and is a character I immediately connected with, as I feel many people around the world will too when they set off on this adventure.

Forspoken is designed specifically for PlayStation 5, though a Forspoken PC port will release at the same time when the game launches in 2022.
