We are getting closer to the U.S. release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. To help whet our appetites while we wait, Atlus has released a number of character trailers showing off some of the newer characters to the series.

The first character is newcomer Sho, who is debuting in Ultimax. This red-headed fighter wields two katanas, and is the antagonist of the title. Sho has one major difference that seperates him from all of the other fighters in the game: he has no Persona. Though this could be seen as a weakness, he is able to stand toe to toe with the other fighters.

The next fighter shown off is a variant of Sho: Minazuki. What makes him different is that Minazuki uses a Persona, named Tsukiyomi.

The next trailer showed off Shadow Labrys. While not new to the series, she received a trailer showing her off in Ultimax. She wields a Persona by the name of Asterius.

The final trailer features two previously announced newcomers, Tohru Adachi and Marie. Both were previously announced as DLC characters, and will be free the first week after the game releases. Adachi fights with his Persona, Magatsu Izanagi, while Marie uses her Persona, Kaguya. You can check out Marie’s reveal here.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax continues the story of the original game. It will feature the old roster along with a number of new fighters. The games feature characters from Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 and 4.

I love fighting games, and Persona 4 Arena is one of my favorites. The new fighters do look good, so I will definitely have to try them all out. They even included characters I would never would have expected, like Adachi. The most interesting of them all is Sho. The fact that he has no Persona makes him unique, and we will have to wait to see how he measures against the other fighters.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax releases in North America on September 30.
