3DS May Be Used As Controller For Wii U

Twitter user finds that it may be possible to use the 3DS as a controller for the Wii U

It appears that there might be some interesting developments in the Super Smash Bros. world. Kyle McLain on Twitter discovered a screen on the new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS displaying a diagram about connecting the handheld console to the Nintendo Wii U. This is the first time this has been seen so at this time we can only speculate that it will only work within the 3DS version of the game and the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.  Will the 3DS controller replace the use of a traditional style controller on the Wii U? I have my doubts, but if you have friends over and are missing a controller, it will be nice to be able to connect a handheld and jump in on the action.

This could also open up many doors in the future for connecting these two systems. If you remember Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the GameCube, you could connect four GameBoy Advances to one GameCube system and have up to a 4 player adventure using the GameBoy as a controller and menu access device. Could this new discovery bring this feature back for these new consoles through wireless? One could hope so. There was nothing more fun than getting friends together together with their handhelds to play a game on the big screen.

(Unless you got stuck carrying the chalice)
