All Triple-i Initiative Showcase Announcements

The Triple-i Initiative, a new collaboration in the indie games space, kicked off its inaugural showcase today. Streamed live on multiple platforms, the no-nonsense show was filled to the brim with over 30 trailers, reveals, and announcements. Aiming to elevate the best of the indie scene in the minds of consumers, the 45-minute showcase highlighted games from various genres and platforms.

There were three different types of announcements made during the show:

• Release Date Announcements

World Premiers

• Slay the Spire 2 heading to early access in 2025.
• Isometric shooter Kill Knight coming in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
• Never Alone 2 from E-Line Media and Humble Games was announced.
• Dungeon crawler UnderMine 2 in development from Thorium.
• Wabisabi Games premier of action platformer RKGK coming this summer.
• Evil Empire presents their roguelike platformer The Rogue Prince of Persia heading to early access on May 14.

DLC Reveals

• Risk of Rain 2 Devotion Update brings new Artifacts, Devotion and Delusion, along with a new character skin.
• Vampire Survivors Contra Crossover DLC Operation Guns coming May 9.
• Darkest Dungeon 2 trailer showed off the next free update content titled Kingdoms, coming later in 2024.
• The Last Spell DLC Dwarves of Runenberg launches April 24.
• New Potatoes, new items, new enemies, and a new map for Brotato in the Abyssal Terrors DLC, releasing with a 4-player couch co-op update.
• Old World Behind the Throne DLC releasing May 28.
• V Rising Legacy of Castlevania update coming May 8th, allowing you to take on Simon Belmont.

Release Date Announcements

• Shadows of Doubt full release coming in 2024 for PS5, Xbox series X|S, and Steam.
• Medieval city builder mixed with dino combat game Dino Lords coming to Steam early access in 2025.
• 2D Platformer Gestalt: Steam and Cinder heading to Xbox, PC PS5, and Nintendo Switch on May 21.
• From creators of The Mageseeker and Moonlight comes Cataclismo, a real-time stronghold builder launching July 16.
• City builder Endzone 2 announced, with early access coming in Summer 2024.
• Medieval city builder Norland coming to early access May 16.
• What the Car? from Apple Arcade Car now has a Steam demo. Launching on PC September 1.
• Tactical RPG Broken Roads is out now. The morality mechanics were shown off in the launch trailer.
• City builder Laysara Summit Kingdom out in early access now on PC.
• Nintendo Switch title Tchia launching June 27.
• Multiplayer roguelike 33 Immortals taking sign-ups for closed beta starting May 24.
• FPS Mouse calls to mind Steamboat Willy mixed with Popeye in gameplay trailer. Title release is slated for 2025.

New Platforms, Features, and Content

• Cross-platform and co-op coming for My Time at Sandrock summer 2024.
• Vampire Survivors heading to PS5 and PS4 in 2024.
• A44 Composer Eric Hillman spotlighted for the music of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.
• Death Must Die Act 2 coming April 20.
• Icarus’ Vehicles is the next content update for Dyson Sphere Program.
• Final chapter of the Ravenswatch story, Fall of Avalon, is coming April 22.
• Cat Quest 3 opening cinematic revealed.
• Hyper Light Breaker is heading to early access this summer.
• Wizard of Legend 2 from Humble Games and Dead Mage dropped a combat trailer.
• Let’s School heading to console with Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One summer 2024.
• Streets of Rogue 2 is set in a procedurally generated sandbox open-world where you need to overthrow a corrupt president. There are multiple classes to choose from allowing you to complete each mission in a variety of ways.
• Palworld getting an arena mode similar to Pokemon Stadium in 2024.

As a die hard Darkest Dungeon fan, I’m ecstatic for the Kingdoms update featuring some mechanics and enemies from the original title.

Many of the titles featured fall in the roguelike or rogue-lite category, while more than a few platformers and city builders were announced. Most of the games are entering an early access phase during quarter two of 2024, with even more content slated for the rest of the year. It just goes to show that you shouldn’t sleep on indie studios and their offerings.
