And the PlayStation 4 craziness continues. The PS4 would have already been hard to get a hold of on launch day, but the current optimism among gamers for Sony’s new console since its boon at E3 over the Xbox One has created a shortage unseen since Nintendo launched the original Wii in 2006.
Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer, has announced that all PS4s available for launch day, dubbed “Launch Edition”, in November have been sold out. Amazon is now taking pre-orders for another stock of PS4s that will not arrive to customers until December 31st.
However, customers looking to pre-order an Xbox One will have no trouble since the retailer has been able to keep that console well in stock.
Those who know Sony’s commitment to gamers knew that the announcement of the PS4 would be well received, but no one could have expected the utter dominance that Sony would have over Microsoft. There were many speculations leading up to the E3 press conferences, but no one knew for sure how well gamers would take to the new console announcements.
With the end of this year’s E3 looming on the horizon, it is clear that the team at Sony has a definitive advantage this holiday season. With this news, along with games like Bungie’s Destiny and the next Kingdom Hearts, the PS4 is set to have a very strong launch come November.
If you are still contemplating on whether you want to pre-order a PS4, you can still find some game retailers like GameStop who have them in limited stock, but you better hurry. My advice would be to make a decision very soon or you may be left in the dust.
