The fencing-style competitive game will feature a single player mode, an 8-player tournament mode, and multiplayer (previously released stills and gameplay have shown the game as being a 1v1 style game). There has been no word on whether the game will feature online or local multiplayer.

NIDHOGG is a game by indie developer Messhof, part of the duo responsible for indie hit Hotline Miami, and up until now, has been playable exclusively as an arcade game at trade shows. As such, the game has achieved an almost cultish following.

NIDHOGG features a unique gameplay style wherein two opponents face off in a fencing style position, each one attempting to kill the other and defend their side of the level. By jumping, dodging and killing, the player can then move on to the next level to once again face his opponent. It’s a concept best illustrated in gameplay rather than text.

NIDHOGG is one of the most anticipated indie game releases of this year, even though it’s release was just announced yesterday. This high-action game is famous for addictive, fast paced gameplay and will be a must-have for any indie gamer.

You can get more info on the NIDHOGG website.
