Ubisoft has made it official, Assassin’s Creed Unity will be locked at 30fps and only have a resolution of 900p. It seems that the newest generation of consoles won’t see an Assassin’s Creed game in full HD yet. It looks like PC will also be locked to the same resolution as well. Senior Producer Vincent Pontbriand told VideroGamer.com:

We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,

However, debates are exactly what Ubisoft has brought up. When people purchased the newest consoles, they were promised that they would deliver a high definition experience. Developers, however, can’t seem to pull this off with the hardware available. As to why Ubisoft is leaving PC users to the same sub-HD standard, they only had one thing to say:

Assassin’s Creed Unity has been engineered from the ground up for next-generation consoles.

It isn’t possible to upgrade the hardware for consoles, leaving their hardware stuck at an already capped performance, but Ubisoft is throwing PC users’ with more powerful hardware out the window.

They don’t give PC gamers with high-end PC builds the option to boost the resolution of the new Assassin’s Creed game. Perhaps Ubisoft will apply a patch similar to the patch for Black Flag that was able to boost the resolution to 1080p on PlayStation 4. For now, it looks like Assassin’s Creed Unity will be stuck at 900p.
