Bayonetta 2 is Sure to Net Fans New to the Series

Bayonetta 2 is one of the games that will make people buy the Wii U.

I have never played the first game, but the series has always interested me. I’m a sucker for well designed action games, especially if they let me mow through a ton of enemies with some style. Bayonetta 2 looks like it will let players achieve that and more.

Where many of these games fall flat is in its combo variation. Most games will have two attack buttons and about just as many combos. Bayonetta 2 gives you a wide variety of combos by allowing you to mix up the attack buttons to pull off some impressive stuff.

Not only are there a lot of different combos, but you can even switch up the attacks a bit by holding down attack buttons to use your guns.

As you played, a meter would be filled that would allow you to active the Umbra system which lets you use giant arm thingies to help attack your enemies. I’m pretty sure this is the titular character’s hair. Either way, it makes you feel bad ass.

Another awesome feature of the combat system is Witch Time which is a slow-mo mode activated by dodging an enemy’s attack at the right time. It makes fights go much smoother. It’s also necessary because if you don’t dodge well, the enemies are going to kick your butt.

There are two control schemes to choose from: touch and basic. I used the basic control scheme and it felt tight and well made. I’m not sure how the touch version will play out, but once I pick up the game I’ll be sure to write about it.

If you own a Wii U and like action games, whether or not you have played the first in the series, Bayonetta 2 is a must buy. It seems like it’s going to be an amazing game.

There is no release date yet for Bayonetta 2 but it will be out on the Wii U sometime in 2014.
