First released in Europe on November 19, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends includes a single-player mode, a couch co-op mode for up to four players, 100 levels, five different bosses, and E-X-T-E-N-D bubbles to activate and upgrade skills in each level.

The original 1986 Bubble Bobble arcade game, which features both single-player and two-player co-op modes, will also be included in Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, which will mark its debut on Nintendo Switch. Previously, the original Bubble Bobble was released digitally on PlayStation 4 through the Arcade Archives collection.

Although Nintendo Switch has a number of games from the Arcade Archives collection, it seems that the original Bubble Bobble will only be available through Bubble Bobble 4 Friends for now.

After its European debut, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends also received a special edition version on December 13, which included a copy of the game, a special edition box, Bub and Bob keychains, four character cards, and a poster. It has not yet been confirmed if the special edition of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will be available outside of Europe.
