When Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin announced on Twitter that Call of Duty: Ghosts will run natively at 1080p on PlayStation 4, and only on 720p on Xbox One after it’s released tomorrow, many people said that this was another reason that the XBox One will lose a console war that may or may not exist.
Fans comment that the smaller game processing unit of the XBox One just can’t properly handle a game like CoD and it’s an incentive to buy the PS4 instead. Some players think games will be smoother and steadier on the PS4. The Sony console is just more powerful, but not by a lot.
My opinion, if you couldn’t guess from the header, is that this is an insignificant difference. The Executive Producer of Call of Duty: Ghosts thinks that the developers, “optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both.”
I think CoD was never about the graphics. The particle effects of mud and blood won’t change your gameplay on the PS4 or the XBox One so it shouldn’t really change an essential experience.
To IGN Rubin said that, “The internet seems to think it’s a big deal,” but I’m unconvinced. Some of my favorite games have terrible graphics. CoD never tried to be pretty. If players wanted landscapes or backgrounds, they’d play something else. People will play Call of Duty: Ghosts on whichever console they have because of its mechanics and strategy, not beautiful colors. The game will play the same on all three next generation consoles
