On June 6, Amazon listed the Capcom 30th Anniversary Character Edition with a pre-order price of $12.65. The book is set to come out on October 21. Capcom fans can look forward to in-depth information on major characters released in the past 30 years. Inside, you will find:
- Nearly 200 characters
- Key artwork
- Statistics
- Background information
- Notes on the history of each character and game franchise
Lucky for us, BradyGames will be covering the creation of the book. The business is known for their strategy guides and is a subsidiary of DK Publishing.
So the announcement has been out for a day. What are people saying?
It looks like some fans are a bit turned off by the relatively small number of characters to be included. With each year represented by roughly six characters, on average, the edition does seem a bit low on information.
Can 30 years really be summed up by almost 200 characters? If so, what does that say about Capcom?
With numerous versions of games like Mega Man coming out, it’s possible that 200 characters is actually a great representation of all of Capcom’s major characters. This Character Edition might be exactly what the fans have been waiting for and if you are a fan of Capcom games, then it is certainly worth checking out when it’s released.
But tell us what you think! Is 200 characters actually enough? Or does the book need more to attract your attention? And which characters do you think are most likely to be left out?
