Chinese Players Compare Girlfriends for RIFT Beta Keys

RIFT China is in closed beta, and they really want to get people’s attention. Shanda Games, the publisher in the region, held an event last week where potential players were asked to share images of their current and previous girlfriends in order to get closed beta keys.

The event’s overall theme was to relate players’ ex and current girlfriends to WoW and RIFT, as seen by this image posted by the RIFT China team on their microblog.

Players posted the images on their microblogs and had to tag the event to be eligible for a closed beta key.

Perhaps not surprisingly, many of the players asking for keys didn’t have girlfriends to compare. While some were actual comparisons of real girlfriends, others were waifu comparisons or joke images.

Stay classy, dude. Stay classy.

This is by no means the the strangest closed beta promotion Shanda Games has pulled off in its home turf of China. Not really the type of promotion you’d see over here, to say the least.
