Cliff Bleszinski (also known as CliffyB) has officially come out of retirement with the formation of his new studio Boss Key Productions. The announcement of this new studio came just this past week shortly after Cliffy stated on Twitter that he was coming out of retirement.
Cliff is not the only veteran developer who has joined the new studio either. Arjan Brusse has linked up with Boss Key as the chief operations officer following Cliff as the CEO. Arjan was one of the co-founders of Guerilla Games which focused on the Killzone franchise for Sony. Cliff, as I am sure you are all aware, was responsible for the Unreal and Gears of War franchises and has been in the development industry for 20 years until his “retirement” two years ago.
Just announced on Twitter this morning was the first project Cliff and his team will be working on. Boss Key will be working with Nexon to publish a free-to-play Sci-Fi PC arena shooter code-named Blue Streak. Unfortunately, this is all the information available. However, knowing that this project is under the guidance of two of the best developers for shooters to date gives me reason to be excited.
Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more information on what Cliffy and the gang are up to with their first project. You can also follow Cliff and Boss Key on Twitter or visit Boss Key’s homepage for further updates.
