Cliff Bleszinski Won’t be Working on Gears of War Anymore

Microsoft announces its takeover of Gears of War -- Cliff Bleszinski won't be making the move with it.

Video game designer, and former design director for Epic Games, Cliff Blenszinski announced today on his blog that he will not be working on the next Gears of War.

Microsoft announced earlier today that they have acquired the rights to the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games — including all existing and future games

Bleszinzki wrote, 

My former employer has sold the Gears of War IP/franchise to Microsoft and my friend Rod Fergusson is going to be working on it. 

I’m not going to move to Vancouver and work on it.

I’m not going to consult on it.

My headspace is in the future now, not the past. I have come to realize that until you give people something new to focus on they will obsess about the past. (good problem to have!)

Black Tusk Studios in Vancouver is now with creating future GoW games.

For the rest of us, this means GoW will remain an Xbox exclusive for the forseeable future.
