Could A Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Port be Announced Soon?

A Twitter user spotted an intriguing bit of information in the Rockstar Social Club source code that could suggest a RDR2 PC announcement is on the way.

Rockstar Games still hasn’t said whether a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port is in the works, but an eagle-eyed Twitter user spotted something that might just confirm its existence anyway.

JakoMako51 browsed the massive wall of Rockstar Social Club source code, as one does, and posted his findings in a Tweet.

He came across a very specific string in the code: RDR2_PC_Accomplishments. That sounds very much like a set of trophies for a PC port of Red Dead Redemption 2. It sounds even more like that when one considers this string is right next to code about Trophies in the PS4 version of the game.

Those interested in checking out the code themselves can find it here, or there’s always the easier way of just looking at the highlighted string in the original tweet:

Of course, nothing is confirmed until Rockstar confirms it. The company has been stubbornly silent about a RDR2 PC port for a while now, despite persistent rumors and shreds of evidence pointing to its existence.

Some fans remarked the string could simply refer to “player character” accomplishments in the console version. It’s a possibility, since being placed near the Trophies code segment could point either way; accomplishments are connected to Trophies, after all.

However, as other Twitter users pointed out, it’s likely the code was only recently added to the Social Club. If that’s true, it would be a bit more difficult to think player character accomplishments that have existed since the game released would only just be added to the page’s source code.

Whether it’s been there for a year or a day, at least it’s a solid piece of evidence, unlike those fake Grand Theft Auto VI leaks earlier in the week.
