In a piece of news that will surprise absolutely no one, Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will come to next-generation consoles. The confirmation comes in a tweet by Bungie, where the developer replied to an official Xbox tweet showcasing the plethora of developers currently working on Xbox Series X titles.

As with the game’s release date, it’s not clear exactly how Destiny 2 will work on next-gen platforms or what pieces of DLC will make the jump with it. Considering all things equal, its release on the Series X and PS5 will look identical or very similar to its current versions on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.

It remains to be seen if Destiny 2 will be one of the titles that features Xbox Smart Delivery, or if it will be backwards compatible on PlayStation 5.

It’s also up in the air if Destiny 2 will feature cross-save with new platforms, as it does with current systems. Future crossplay capabilities are also unknown at this point.

Regardless of how it pans out, Destiny fans will have yet another option for playing their favorite shooter in the coming years, and its inclusion in next-gen catalogs will undoubtedly cater to a larger player-base. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on the Destiny franchise.
