Come March 18, 2014, both the gold and real money Auction Houses on Diablo III will come to a close. According the Diablo III head honchos John Hight and Josh Mosqueira, with the Loot 2.0 system set to be coming out with the Reaper of Souls expansion, the gameplay at the center of Diablo III is not as exciting as they want it to be with the auction house in play.
While full details on the actual closing process have yet to be finalized, they are giving advance notice to players so that have ample enough time to shut down their shops before this update goes live. Updates on the closing process will be announced as information is finalized between now and March 18, 2014.
Getting the rare loot rewards should be worth the effort, according to the Game Director in the YouTube video that accompanied the news release on Diablo III’s blog seen here. More information will also be coming at Blizzcon as well so if you are a Diablo III player and are concerned about the closing of the Auction Houses, be sure to keep an eye out for more information there.
Judging from the comments below the announcement on the Diablo III blog, news of the auction houses closing seems to be, for the most part, a good decision for the head honchos at Diablo III to make.
What are your thoughts on the closings of the auction houses?
