Ever wanted to combine the worlds of Doom II: Hell on Earth and the classic 90s sitcom Seinfeld?
Well, now you don’t have to.
A fan of both the game and the show, Doug Keener, made a YouTube video showcasing this mashup, which he put more than 100 hours into making. The video now has 712,621 (and counting) views since first being uploaded on Monday.
The classic first-person shooter perspective highlights the amount of detail put into the game. The gunman enters the hallway leading up to Jerry’s apartment, 129 West 81st Street, Apartment 5A, to find Jerry, Elaine, Kramer and George all fumbling around the room spouting their various classic lines from the show.
In the video, the player is shown going from room-to-room: Jerry’s living room, desk, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. However, the tribute is not just a tour of the classic Manhattan apartment — in true Doom fashion there is gore galore.
The player picks off each of the characters one-by-one, starting with George as he refuses to get out of the way to Jerry’s bedroom. (He had it coming after double dipping that chip.)
However, lest you think that the infamous Newman is behind the killings, think again. At then end of the video, revealed in Kramer’s apartment, Newman is the last to be shot, exclaiming, “When you control the mail, you control information,” before he goes down.
The game also includes a downloadable version of the map of the apartment available through Google Drive.
Kenner wrote in the description of the video that the game is not meant to be a “hate video” toward Seinfeld. He wrote:
“It is a tribute and an homage to one of the greatest television shows of all-time, as well as one of the greatest video games of all-time.”
