The first Dota 2 Fall Major, dubbed “The Frankfurt Major”, will run from November 16 through November 21 in the Festhalle Messewould, a.k.a the “Great Dome” in Frankfurt, Germany. The Festhalle Messe is a concert hall that was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It has contemporarily been used for indoor sports and music concerts. Up to 9,843 people will fit in the banquet hall space, with those unseated in the interior bring the total up to more than 13,500.
Prize pool and tickets
Valve is offering the largest base prize pool to date – a staggering $3,000,000. There is a slight confusion in the Dota 2 community as to whether the “Seasonal Compendium” is tied up to the Fall Major.
Valve announced that the $3,000,000 is the “total prize pool”, not the base prize pool. The Seasonal Compendium might be added to The International 2016. If, however, the Seasonal Compendium is tied to the Fall Major/Frankfurt Major, it will become the third largest prize pool in Dota 2 history.
The event itself will be open to the public, with only a €50 ticket required to view the finals on Saturday, November 21. Tickets for the grand finale will be sold in waves:
- Sunday 27th September – 11:00am CEST
- Sunday 27th September – 7:00pm CEST
Qualifiers and Invites
Direct invites will be announced on October 5, which is less than two weeks away. The open qualifiers will be hosted by FaceIt and Perfect World, and will take place from October 6th to 9th, with the Regional Qualifiers scheduled for 10-13 of October.
