The Great Debate
If you are a PC gamer, you have most likely heard about League of Legends, and if you have Steam you are most likely sitting on a bunch of DOTA 2 invites. It’s a new genre of game that has just been growing like crazy. Based on a custom map for Warcraft 3 called Defense of the Ancients, both games revolve around 5 on 5 teams killing minions and each other to save money, buy items, and then eventually wreck the enemy base. There has always been contention between the two fan bases.
But now it looks like DOTA 2 has taken the lead for the most played game of 2013. Thanks to the massive waves of invites sent out, almost everyone and their mother can play. And I’m not going to lie, DOTA 2 has some serious advantages over League of Legends. All heroes are available from word go. No need to grind. There is also no rune or mastery system that allows players to buff their stats before the game even starts. And to top it all off, all cosmetic items can be attained for free, and even made by the community.
If you haven’t been able to give DOTA 2 a shot yet yourself, let me know in the comments section below. I think I have something like twenty DOTA 2 invites sitting in my inventory, and I’d be more than happy to share.
