While it was all-but-inevitable, Bioware has announced that Dragon Age: Inquisition will indeed allow players to carry over their saves from the previous installments, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. Similar to their critically acclaimed Mass Effect series, the saves will no doubt influence the story of the forthcoming game.
Cameron Lee, producer of the game, spoke at PAX Australia stating, “We know what we want to do. It will absolutely come across – your decisions carry [and] will matter.”
At E3 last month, Dragon Age: Inquisition was confirmed for release in fall 2014, and is in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, as well as the next-generation consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will combine elements from both of its predecessors, and Bioware also stated that open-world games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are an influence.
Inquisition takes place following the events of Dragon Age II, which have plunged the realm of Thedas into an all-out civil war between the Templars and the Mages. The game will feature a new protagonist, though the Warden from Origins and Hawke from II may appear in the game. Bioware has promised a larger landscape, and has already stated that one map is four to five times larger than Ferelden from Origins. Customization will also be more in-depth, though Bioware hasn’t given any more details.
Dragon Age: Inquisition will release in fall of 2014.
