There is only one way I could describe my impressions of Dragon’s Prophet so far from all of the promotional videos:
Dragons. Dragons dragons. Draaaagons.
Tame’em, ride’em, make them duke it out — dragons!
Those of you looking forward to Runewalker’s upcoming MMO featuring dragons (duh), you may get a chance to play it earlier than you thought. Both North America and Europe are entering their closed beta phases on March 19, meaning it’s time for you to head on over to the official sites linked above and sign up.
The Taiwanese version of Dragon’s Prophet went into closed beta on March 13. According to MMO Culture’s cinderboy, the game is currently in an unfinished state and hence is extremely unpolished. Take a look at his preview into the Taiwanese closed beta. It looks promising, but the lack of polish in both visuals and combat is going to be a detriment to the game’s international beta launches.
It would be better that the game leave a good impression in closed beta in order to compete in our overly-critical attitude toward MMORPGs. Dragons are cool, but Dragon’s Prophet is going to need to really take strides to stand out in order to succeed in the West and even in its native country of Taiwan. We’ll just have to see how it goes come the game’s closed beta on March 19.
