Runewaker’s dragon-taming MMO Dragon’s Prophet is going into open beta on May 30th, meaning those of you who haven’t gotten into the closed beta yet will finally be able to step into the world of Auratia at that time.
The current state of Dragon’s Prophet
If the game is going into open beta on May 30, I really do hope they catch up to the Taiwanese beta server by two patches.
As the game stands now, the combat is fun but loose, the translation is by no means complete, and it needs some general optimization overall. It really has been a true beta. The custom engine Dragon’s Prophet is running on has the ability to look great, but needs some serious work in the optimization department for less than absolutely stellar hardware.
SOE/Runewaker have been on the ball with fixing this stuff.
Each new patch has brought several improvements to the game, and SOE has done a decent job of keeping up with their Taiwan-based counterpart and it’s clear they’re looking to give the game the best shot it can get in North America sans a massive television marketing campaign.
Those of you who played the more open closed beta days over the weekend and were unimpressed but liked the concepts behind the game, keep an eye out for the changes coming in open beta and beyond. Dragon’s Prophet has seen a lot of improvement since its initial closed beta phase and just keeps becoming more polished with each patch. It will be ready for retail in due time, just you wait.
Don’t forget our correspondent contest!
We here at GameSkinny are having a contest for two lucky people to cover Dragon’s Prophet once a month, for a year. Winners will be paid for their once a month columns and receive free trips to SOE Live this summer. Check it out!
