Official sources confirm that The Elder Scrolls Online will in fact be on both the PS4 and the Xbox One! Check it for yourself on the BethBlog.
This is VERY interesting and says a few things about the game. First of all, the game will be much more of the Elder Scrolls and much less of an MMO. Fans have been worried that the game would be too…MMO-y and succumb to WoW syndrome. Console means the game will stick to its simple roots and be playable on a controller.
The news raises and interesting question: What will the subscription model be? Console raises some interesting payment options for MMOs and I’ve got a feeling that the game will be a one-time purchase and not a monthly subscription. Why would console users, already paying Xbox Live and PS Plus subscriptions, go for another subscription? Bethesda is smarter than that!
Another interesting question: will The Elder Scrolls Online be cross platform compatible?
We’ll find out more answers as we get closer to the release date and the beta. The Elder Scrolls Online is slated to be released in Spring 2014
