CCP, the developers of EVE: Online, announced today on Twitter that their latest title EVE: Valkyrie will support the upcoming VR headsets, PlayStation VR and HTC Vive.
What is EVE: Valkyrie?
EVE: Valkyrie is a multiplayer dogfighting shooter, set in the EVE: Online universe. It is the launch title of Facebook’s VR headset, the Oculus Rift. The player takes on the role of an elite space fighter pilot who is a member of a pirate faction.
The player has to fight against other pirate factions for wealth, supremacy, and notoriety. The game features single player PVE modes, skill-based character progression, ships upgrades, competitive social multiplayer action, and a deep story based on the EVE Universe.
The ultimate dogfighting experience
CCP is aiming to deliver the ultimate space dogfighting experience with EVE: Valkyrie. It uses the most technologically advanced video game technology along with VR to further enhance the experience.
If you were thinking of playing EVE: Valkyrie but were not looking to invest in the Oculus Rift, you soon will be able to. Playstation VR is due for release in October. A date for compatibility with EVE: Valkyrie for the HTC Vive is yet to be announced but estimated to be this year.
