Final Exam is a new beat’em up game being developed by Mighty Rocket Studio, and the game sets to bring back the classic beat’em up action from years ago.

Mighty Rocket Studio is a nine-person team that was founded in February 2013 for the development of Final Exam.  The idea behind Final Exam is based around four high school friends that are on their way to their class reunion.

From an EU Playstation blog,

“You were going to a class reunion.  It should have been a fantastic party…but you suddenly realise that there are monsters everywhere, and they are after you!”

“You can choose from four characters that are all classic teen archetypes.  Brutal Joe is the quarterback of the group.  He likes everything related to raw power.  Cassy is a street dancer and her special attacks are dance moves.  Nathan is a geek.  He loves technological stuff (he’s my favourite).  Finally, Sean is the handsome guy…but the bad boy.  He likes playing with firearms.”

Each character has their own special attacks that can upgraded using the skill points you earn after each mission.  The skills points can also be used to increase the stats and attributes of your character as well as purchase new moves for your character.

Also, the combo system in Final Exam is interesting because it is based on old skateboarding games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.  Each mission will track the number of points you earn and by varying your different attacks, you earn more points.  This is something that I have not seen in other fighting games so it should help distinguish Final Exam when it is released.

Final Exam is set for release on November 6, 2013 and will be available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC.
